Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia Brings the Thrill of the Iconic “Red Peak Challenge” to Kuching This August

Kuala Lumpur, 20 August 2025 – MITSUBISHI MOTORS MALAYSIA (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi vehicles in Malaysia, is excited to bring the iconic Red Peak Challenge to East Malaysia this August. Set to take place at Farley Mall, Kuching on 23–24 August 2025 (Saturday & Sunday) from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, the event offers the public a rare opportunity to test the capabilities of the Triton.

Visitors to the Red Peak Challenge will experience an adrenaline-pumping ride up a dramatic 45-degree peak ramp with professional instructors, demonstrating the Triton’s power and hill-climb control. Guests can also take the wheel through a series of man-made obstacle courses designed to showcase the Triton’s superior driving performance.

Red Peak Climb
The legendary 45-degree Red Peak Climb, a purpose-built test designed to showcase Triton's exceptional grip and control on steep inclines. With a powerful engine at its core, the Triton handles the incline with ease, offering test riders an adrenaline-fueled opportunity to experience its impressive climbing ability.

Side Traverse Ramp
On challenging terrain, vehicles may experience 'body' twist when one-wheel lifts off the ground and if the chassis isn't built to withstand the force. The 35-degree side ramp is designed to demonstrate the Triton’s body rigidity and stability in such conditions. It also highlights the effectiveness of Triton’s 4WD system in maintaining traction and drivability, even when one wheel loses contact with the ground.

Roller Ramp
Inspired by the challenging conditions found in muddy plantations or construction sites, this test simulates a stuck situation. The Triton’s Super Select 4WD-II system in 4HLC ensures power is evenly distributed to all wheels, maintaining optimal traction and control. With 7 Drive Modes, especially Mud Mode, allow Triton navigates through difficult terrain smoothly.

Staircase Ramp
Designed to simulate uneven road conditions or downhill slopes, this ramp puts the Triton's legendary off-road technology to the test. In Rock Mode, part of its 7 Drive Modes, the Triton effortlessly tackles this challenge. Meanwhile, passengers will enjoy superior cabin comfort, with supportive seats that deliver a noticeably smoother ride compared to competitors.

Participants who test drive or book a vehicle during the event will be eligible for the Red Peak Challenge Lucky Draw, held daily at 5:00 PM. Each test drive earns one ticket, while a vehicle booking earns two tickets. Kuala Lumpur, 22 July 2025 – MITSUBISHI MOTORS MALAYSIA (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi vehicles in Malaysia, is excited to announce that the “Live the Drive” experiential event will be making its way to the outdoor carpark of AEON, Kota Bharu from 25–26 July 2025, 10.00am to 10.00pm, offering locals a chance to get behind the wheel of the Mitsubishi Triton and truly experience what sets this award-winning pick-up apart from the rest.

Built on Mitsubishi’s legendary off-road DNA, the Triton will take center stage as it tackles a specially-designed course that simulates off-road terrain—demonstrating its unique Super Select 4WD-II system, intelligent 7-Drive Modes, and rigid new frame chassis.

Event-goers will participate in various challenges, each highlighting Triton’s unmatched capabilities in both performance and driver comfort:

Uneven Rocky Terrain
Simulating construction sites or plantations, this course proves how Super Select 4WD-II and 7-drive modes combine for optimum grip and control across any surface. Triton’s superior seat comfort also means a smoother ride compared to most competitors.

Elephant Steps
One of the most challenging off-road tests, the Elephant Steps push the Triton’s 4LLC low-range gearing to the limit—delivering power to all four wheels, even when one tire lifts off the ground.

Side Ramp
This obstacle showcases the new frame chassis by testing its rigidity. With Triton’s superior stability and handling, even at a 45-degree tilt, the pick-up truck remains stable.

Water Wading Challenge
Designed to replicate flash flood scenarios, this obstacle holds up to 700mm of water—yet the Triton powers through with ease, proving its water wading capabilities

U-Turn Obstacle Course
This obstacle is to demonstrate Triton’s full-time 4WD mode (4H) that can be driven on paved roads, making U-Turns as smooth as a SUV. Test the difference first-hand at low and moderate speeds.

Participants can also put their skills to the test with the Water Bucket Test Drive Challenge, where they must navigate the track while keeping a full bucket of water steady. Attractive prizes await the smoothest drivers, including Naturehike Camping Wagon worth RM500, Naturehike 50L Foldable Box worth RM400, a portable fan worth RM200.

The Devil’s Angle will see participants go through a water-wading obstacle to showcase XPANDER’s versatility to handle rough roads or flash floods with its high ground clearance of 205mm.

Another stirring course is the Side Traverse, which is specially designed to test XPANDER’S agility and superior handling. In addition, visitors can also test the Roller Conveyor which recognizes XPANDER’S excellent safety where the car’s Traction Control helps to maintain traction on slippery or rugged surfaces.

Mitsubishi Triton Obstacle Courses

Visitors to the event can test drive the Triton through a few obstacle courses designed to thrill

As for the Mitsubishi Triton pick-up truck, visitors can immerse themselves in the Hill Slope encounter. This obstacle course is meticulously built to showcase Triton's Hill Start Assist making it easy to start off on a steep uphill slope.

The obstacle course continues with the enthralling Downhill slope. Visitors to the event can put Triton's Hill Descent Control to the test, affirming its prowess in automatic brake application on downward inclines.

Participants can also take on the Mud Pit and Elephant Steps challenge which showcases the Triton’s off-road mode for extra traction and its Super Select 4WD II system delivering optimum traction and handling for any given terrain.

The Mitsubishi XPANDER Venture Event

Kuala Lumpur, 13 January 2023 – Come and experience first-hand thrills and the proven capabilities of the Mitsubishi XPANDER seven-seater crossover as MITSUBISHI MOTORS MALAYSIA (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi vehicles in Malaysia, brings you the Mitsubishi XPANDER Venture Event!

The event will take place from 14-15 January 2023, at Dataran Karnival, Perkarangan Shah Alam, Selangor, from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm. Admission is FREE.

Visitors to the event can test drive the XPANDER through a few adventurous courses, all designed to thrill! The Devil’s Angle will see participants go through a water-wading obstacle to showcase XPANDER’s versatility to handle rough roads or flash floods with its high ground clearance of 205mm.

Another stirring course is the Side Traverse, which is specially designed to test XPANDER’s agility and superior handling. Besides that, other obstacle courses include Log & Roll which is to experience the superior suspension and overall cabin comfort of the XPANDER.

Visitors can also test the Roller Conveyer which recognizes XPANDER’s excellent safety where the car’s Traction Control helps to maintain traction on slippery or rugged surfaces.

Last but not least, visitors can also try the Agility Challenge to test XPANDER’s tight turning radius of 5.2m. This challenge showcases XPANDER’s turning done effortlessly with easier maneuverability, especially in tight spaces such as shopping mall parking bays or small and winding countryside roads.

Apart from that, visitors can also expect the following excitements:

Kuala Lumpur, 5 March 2019 - Want to experience first-hand thrills of high speed rides and off-road driving, as well as the proven capabilities of the new Triton? Then come and experience the taste of Dakar Rally as Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi vehicles in Malaysia, brings you the Mitsubishi 4Sure Thrill event with two-time Dakar Rally champion Hiroshi Masuoka from Japan and Malaysian Motorsports Athlete, Leona Chin!

The event will take place on 9-10 March 2019 (Saturday-Sunday) at Setia City Convention Centre, Outdoor carpark from 10am-8pm. Admission is free.

Hiroshi Masuoka and Leona Chin will be leading the high speed taxi rides by showcasing the capabilities of the new Mitsubishi Triton. The new Triton adopted four pillars under the 4Sure Handling USPs: 4Sure Power; 4Sure Control; 4Sure Agility; 4Sure Safety. With these four pillars, customers are assured of a vehicle that is built to high standards and performance

Hiroshi Masuoka is the second only Japanese driver in history to win the Dakar Rally in year 2002 in a Mitsubishi Pajero/Montero. Masuoka took a second successive victory in 2003. Mitsubishi Motors is the most successful make in Dakar Rally history, winning the "World's Toughest Race" a record of 12 times.

Leona ventured into motorsports when she was 20 and was quickly associated with the title "girl drifter". Some of Leona's recent achievements include Most Promising Female Motorsports Athlete in the Asia Automotive Awards 2019 and Most Inspiring Female Motorsports Athlete in the PETRONAS SIC Motorsports Association of Malaysia (MAM) Awards.

Besides riding on the high-speed rides with Hiroshi Masuoka and Leona Chin, customers can test drive the new Triton on an off-road track with uneven surface and muddy terrain which was specially designed to test Mitsubishi Motors Super-Select 4WD II system and off-road mode. The track also features a descending track to test the Hill Descent Control on the new Triton.

Mitsubishi Triton Enhanced for 2017 - Kota Kinabalu

Kota Kinabalu, 19 April 2017 - Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi vehicles in Malaysia, organized a three-day drive event of the enhanced Mitsubishi Triton for the Malaysian media today. The drive event was held at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
The event consisted of total of eight enhanced Triton, with variants comprising of four Triton VGT Adventure X, one Triton VGT Adventure, one Triton VGT AT and one Triton VGT MT. The vehicles were championed by 16 media members from Peninsular and East Malaysia. The drive was flagged-off by Chief Executive Officer of MMM Mr. Tomoyuki Shinnishi. The convoy started from Tanjung Aru, Shangri-La Resort to Gayang Seafood Restaurant (2 hours- 80% Tarmac, 20% Windy Roads) where participants stopped for lunch before making their way to an off-road trail location in Kota Belud (1 hour- 90% Tarmac, 10%- Windy Roads).
In Kota Belud, members of the media had the thrills of testing the enhanced Triton for 30km of off-road terrain which includes undulations, hill climb, downhill and four river crosses.
Speaking at the event, Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Tomoyuki Shinnishi said, "The Triton is an all-rounder truck with proven performance, undeniable toughness & reliability, and now further enhanced with optimum safety features. What's more, the only pick-up offering up to 200,000 KM or 5 Years of warranty!"
After the off-road trails, the convoy headed back to Kota Kinabalu town (2.5 hours- 95% Tarmac, 5% Windy) for dinner. The drive covered a total distance of 260 KM comprising a mixture of windy, off-road, town, city and highway routes.

Automatic bi-xenon HID headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights on VGT variants provide outstanding illumination for the road ahead, as well as a striking signature look. The Adventure X variant takes the rugged theme further with 17-inch dual-tone alloy rims and a front bumper shield extender.

The latest Triton's cabin has been updated with a new four-spoke multi-function steering wheel with audio, Bluetooth cruise controls, and a new instrument cluster. The VGT Adventure variant also receives an 8-way power adjustable driver's seat for comfort and convenience in addition to leather seats and a reverse camera to assist in parking.

Coupled with Variable Geometry Turbo (VGT), it produces a strong 181 PS of power and 430 Nm of torque, and boasts 15% better fuel efficiency compared to the previous 2.5-litre engine.

This is achieved through MIVEC’s finer control of the engine valves for improved performance, while lightweight aluminum alloy blocks keeps weight to a minimum. This modern powerhouse also uses a timing chain for lower maintenance costs and a longer service lifespan. It also boasts minimum levels of noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) for a comfortable drive and further enhancing the Triton's car-like refinement.

Powertrain options include a 5-speed automatic transmission with manual mode, and a new 6-speed manual transmission for the VGT MT. Mitsubishi's renowned 4WD system, switchable through the Easy Select knob with shift-on-the-fly, provides various drive modes for any terrain or weather. The Triton is also nimble in the urban jungle with best-in-class turning radius of just 5.9m (5.7m for 2WD).
